Biology & Therapy Development
The University of Sheffield hosts excellent scientists conducting fundamental research into the biology of multiple sclerosis. SMSRAG is interested to hear from researchers looking into disease mechanisms and searching for new therapeutic targets.
Modelling MS
A disease model is animals or cells displaying some or all of the disease processes that are found in the human disease. Studying MS models helps us to understand how the disease develops so we can find ways to stop it.
Drug screening
The drug discovery laboratory in SITraN has special equipment to allow rapid large scale testing for the effects of potential therapeutic compounds on cell function and appearance. Dr Tennore Rammesh has led on drug screening experiments for multiple sclerosis using remyelination in zebrafish models as a readout for beneficial effect.
